Welcome on the Alpe Adria Trail: From the glacier to the sea

The Alpe Adria Trail is one of Europe’s newest long-distance hiking routes, and has been designed to end at well-located accommodations with easy access to iconic regional cuisine.

The Alpe-Adria-Trail connects the three regions of Carinthia,Austria, Slovenia, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in a total of 43 stages and circa 750 km.

This long-distance hiking trail leads from the foot of the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner, through the most beautiful mountain and lake regions in Carinthia, and without any major detours leads close to the point where the three countries of Austria, Italy and Slovenia intersect at the Dreiländereck, and then on towards Muggia.

In 2022, Whole Journeys was the first operator in the world to execute a group hike along the entire 750 Km trail.

Your trip highlights our favorite hikes, properties, and diverse trail and culture.

We'll hike beginning at the foot of Austria’s Grossglockner in an area that Austrians refer to as "the Garden of Eden." The route continues into Slovenia’s Julian Alps, known for pristine mountain lakes and rivers. And finally, we cross into Italy for our final hike.

Experience three different countries connected by a shared Alpine culture, each of which offers spectacular scenery and unparalleled hikes of one of the most spectacular long distances walks in Europe.
